Appian Way Guided Tours on foot: COSTS AND PAYMENT

Guided tour can be booked for groups of more than 20 people; the cost regardless of the route is:

  • 10,00/ppl (min. 20 participants)
  • Free entrance for all couriers
  • Free entrance for people with handicap and couriers

Reservations must be requested by the education establishments by email specifying all the  details required: route, date, starting time, number of participants, name and phone number of the tour guide or group leader. In order to entry in all the sites planned it’s necessary to provide a list with all the participants to the ticket office.

The payment must be done at least 7 days before the tour with a bank transfer to:

For institutions that require an electronic invoice to be issued before the tour, the payment must be made within 30 days before the tour date. Please remember to send us, at the same time, the tax number of the institution.

For groups of less than 20 people is possible to require a specific quote.

APPIA ANTICA 1 Historic and archaeological tour from the San Sebastiano Cathedral until the alley of Tor Carbone

It’s a guided tour on foot along the ancient “Regina Viarum”, the “Queen of the Roads”, a unique place a few steps away from the city centre. Starting from the slab of marble with the famous footprints of the Lord into the Domine Quo Vadis church, we will proceed toward the most important monuments and archeological sites, such as the private Villa of Massenzio emperor and his Circus, the Mausoleum of Romolo and the Tomb of Cecilia Metella.

You will walk on the first stretch of the cobblestones, the original Roman pavement marked by the railway of the chariots during the past centuries.

End point: at the corner between Via Appia Antica and Cecilia Metella.

APPIA ANTICA 2 – Historic and archaeological tour from the corner between Via Erode Attico and Via Appia Antica until Villa dei Quintili (not available on Monday, the tour can be done also backwards)

It’s a historic and archaeological tour in one of the most fascinating spot along the Appia Antica way. The IV and V miles will allow you to know one of the most important sepulchres of the area: “il Tumulo dei Curiazi e i Tumuli degli Orazi su tutti”.

In the second part of the tour you can do a guided tour into Santa Maria Nova area (recently opening) and Villa Quintili.

After the killing of Quintilis brothers thanks to the Emperor Commodo, the residence became an imperial villa.

AQUEDUCTS AREA – landscaping and historic itinerary

The itinerary will allow you to appreciate the ruins of the famous pattern of the ancient Roman aqueducts. The green area of 15 hectares contains the remains of six of 11 aqueducts that Roman used once.

Dozen of thermal baths, thousands of fountains and private houses, amphitheatres where took place the famous naval battles were powered by this stunning arches. At the top, ran drinkable and pure water from so far away.
